Attention.” With this as
our goal you will save valuable time when it comes to buying and placing
Out Of Home Media Buys, i.e. Billboards that come in any shape, form or
design: Wallboards, Digital
Billboards, Mobile Billboards & Standard Billboards (Bulletins, 30 Sheet
Posters, & Tri-Visions).
You as the
Client will work with one person, Al Hollingsworth, Owner & President. With
Al as your Outdoor Representative, you will receive the personal
attention to detail when it comes to the lowest competitive rates, as
well as a veteran of 37 years in the Outdoor Advertising business that
will customize all of your Outdoor Advertising needs whether it is in
New York City or Los Angeles and every
Outdoor Market in between!
HISTORY &
EXPERIENCE
When it comes to
experience and education, Al Hollingsworth has an Associates Degree in
Sales & Marketing from Columbus State Community College as well as a
Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration from Franklin
University in Columbus, Ohio. After
returning from a tour of duty in Vietnam in the United States Marine
Corps in 1970, he used the GI Bill for his college education and while
in school he had the “Good Fortune” to be hired by Tom Kaplan who owned
Columbus Outdoor Advertising of Ohio. This
all came about in the 1st semester
of his freshman year when he was asked to do a report on “The Out Of
Home Industry.” Little did
Al know that when he asked Mr. Kaplan for his assistance in this report
for his Sales Promotion class that this would begin his 37 yr. career in
Outdoor Advertising. When he
came back to personally thank Mr. Kaplan for his assistance in getting
an “A” in that class as well as a full scholarship to Columbus State
from the Insurance Board of Ohio, that he would be offered a job with
Columbus Outdoor Advertising. After
accepting the job, his new boss, Tom Kaplan, JR. sat
him down and explained how his family got into the Outdoor Advertising
business. He told Al that
his father, Tom Kaplan, SR. was one of the original owners of GOA
(General Outdoor Advertising) which later sold to Foster & Kleiser
(today some of F&K are part of Clear Channel) and then his father formed
Columbus Outdoor Advertising. With
a history of the business being explained, he was now ready to get to
work & find out more! His
job started out as a Lease Man, securing Billboard leases throughout
Central & Southern Ohio. Next
a promotion to Chart Manager where he put together the placement of all
Outdoor Buys, then on to Local & National Sales Manager. He
remained at Columbus Outdoor Advertising until 1980. He
was then hired as a consultant for MMI of Chicago to setup an
Out-Of-Home Dept. for the new agency. After
the completion of this project he was hired by a client of MMI, Richard
Driehaus, the owner of American Bus Shelter, to evaluate his fledgling
bus shelter business in Orange & Los Angeles counties in California. In
the mean time, Columbus Outdoor Advertising was sold to Donrey Media
Group and their new GM made him an offer that he could not
refuse. Working for Donrey Media Group as their Local and National
Sales Manager, enabled him to go “Full Circle” with all that he had
learned over the years since the beginning of his career in 1971. In
January of 1985, Al decided that it was time to put all of his
experience to work and form his own company. His
new company consisted of Billboards, a Full Service Sign Company that
specialized in local Event Planning in the Columbus Metro Area, an
Outdoor Buying Service and then a partnership with a local Racetrack
where Billboards were constructed that surround the back straight-a-way
of the track, On-Track Advertising.

Al still owns
Billboards throughout Ohio and his Outdoor Buying Service has been
expanding over the years as well. He
is now taking his Buying Service nationally & being familiar with all of
the top markets in the US, even the small plant owners & operators; he
knows that he can provide any customer with a Billboard agenda, the BEST
in Outdoor Buys.
Al’s promise to
